Vodafone 5G test is first to ditch 4G entirely

Having successfully hosted a live holographic chat session at 5G, Vodafone has now launched its leading 5G trial period in Manchester.

Salford's first place in the UK is to leave 4G completely and transfer data from the Internet to the phone via the 5G network.

Of course, users in the region will not necessarily notice improvements in their services as their phones will still be limited to 4G connectivity, but the network itself only uses 5 G bandwidth.

Previous EE 5G test in London also used part of its 4G network.

Vodafone's 5G trials will soon expand to other cities in the UK. He will break up what he calls the "Complete 5G" in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, and London. In 2019, Vodafone also plans to activate 5G technology in Scotland Plateau, Cornwall, and the Lake District.

The next few parts will follow.

5G phones will begin to be available early next year. The recently announced Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is 5G compatible and will be compatible with the services as they are fully deployed.

OnePlus also works on the 5G phone, which should be OnePlus 7, which should be launched in the first half of 2019.

speed

The speed of the NR 5G in belts below 6 GHz can be slightly higher than 4G with a similar amount of spectrum and antenna.  Adding LAA (License Assisted Access) to 4G configuration can increase hundreds of megabits per second.

While many field tests are not conducted, 5G speeds can only be evaluated. Qualcomm, the leading chip maker, presented the Mobile World Congress with a model that many people have mentioned. The simulation provides a mid-rate of 490 Mbit / s for a standard 3.5 GHz MIMO mass configuration. Predicts a midrange of 1.4 Gbit / s for configuration by a 28 GHz millimeter wave.
