Vivo Apex 2019 Concept kills all buttons and ports debuts all-screen fingerprint scanner

- Concept 2019 shows next NEX phone
- Monocoque design has no buttons or connectors
- The fingerprint scanner works in most screens

It seems that 2019 will be an extraordinary year for smartphones. We have discovered the most unusual and revolutionary device of the year: the Apex 2019 concept, which has a one-piece design without plugs or buttons, and a built-in fingerprint scanner that works around the world.

Okay, so the big "Concept" in the name lets you know that this thing is not yet a complete reality. But in February 2018 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the company introduced its concept of Apex pop-up camera, named NEX S just four months later!

Does the concept of Apex 2019 contain information about the next NEX device? We suspect. Here's what you have to wait for.

First, what Vivo calls "full-screen scanning technology." Similarly to the built-in fingerprint scanning technology used to unlock the phone or payment, this up-to-date technology allows you to touch virtually anywhere on the screen, not just the assigned area. The software will identify the point of contact and illuminate this area for accurate fingerprint readout. Intelligent.

Secondly, there is a monochrome design. However, Vivo was not the first to break through: Meizu discovered his Zero phone a few days ago, announcing the phone without the buttons or ports. Vivo has done the same thing in the Apex 2019 concept: curved glass design has no aperture, using capacitive touch and pressure sensors to gain the usual volume/power settings.

Instead of a USB port, MagPort provides a magnetic connection to the back of the phone. The sound is dealt with by screen vibration, a technology that looks like a crazy future, but we've already seen it on Sony's TVs that you can already buy.

Third, Vivo's telescopic reduction - at the peak of the NEX Dual Display - continues to increase the screen and display ratio, with the Apex 2019 practically lacking telescopes. How will it work in the real world? Well, we'll have to wait and see (we'll work on MWC 2019 by the end of February and we will have a more detailed report).

Continuing on the theme of the future, the concept of Apex 2019 includes all components that will be ready for 5G for the fastest available flow rates (still in the right areas). It is the first 5G consumer device company.

As far as specifications are concerned, the Apex 2019 sounds less conceptually and more realistically: It has vowed to include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 platform with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage space. Talk to the mighty.

Although Vivo has not yet sold its products to larger territories in China, we suspect that the brand (under the same roof as a company owned by Oppo and OnePlus) plans its global domination. And if the concept of the Apex 2019 still has a way to go, well, those technologies are at the very edge of technology and risk success.
